I promised you a pattern and here it is. I wanted to knit these baby socks from pink yarn, but I didn’t have any. So off-white it is.

It’s already late, so I’m not gonna make a big talk here. Socks are for 1 to 3 months old baby and should be knee-length. Hopefully πŸ™‚ (and yes – I need better pictures)

 

Knitted lace socks for baby

BABY KNEE-HIGH SOCKS β€žISLAND WAVESβ€œ

YOU’LL NEED:
β€’ 25 g (9 oz) of finer sockyarn – I used DROPS Fabel
β€’ doublepointed needles or circular needles size 2 mm / US 0

MEASUREMENTS:
Socks are meant for 1 to 3 months old baby. Length of the cuff is aprox. 10 cm / 4inches. Circumference of the leg is 15 cm / 6 inches. Length of the foot is 10 cm / 4 inches.

GAUGE:
10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) = 27 stitches x 47 rounds;

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • k – knit;
  • p – purl;
  • YO – yarn over;
  • k2tog – knit 2 together;
  • ssk – slip, slip, knit together;
  • sl st kw – slip stitch knit wise;
  • sl st pw – knit stitch purl wise;
  • p2tog – purl 2 together;
  • rep – repeat;

BEGINNING OF THE CUFF:

Cast on 44 stitches. Place marker in the beginning of round.

Rounds 1 to 5: knit;
Round 6: (YO, k2tog) rep to end of round;
Rounds 7 to 12: knit;
Round 13: (k1, YO, k2tog, k1) repeat to the end of round;
Round 14: knit;

 

CUFF

Round 1: k13 (k2, k2tog, YO, k1, YO, ssk, k2) twice, k13;
Round 2: knit 1 round;
Round 3: k13 (k1, k2tog, YO, k3, YO, ssk, k1) twice, k13;
Round 4: knit 1 round;
Round 5: k13 (k2tog, YO, k5, YO, ssk) twice, k13;
Round 6: knit 1 round;

Repeat 7 times total.

 

HEEL FLAP (knit back and forth):

Knitting the heel flap for socks

  • Remove marker from the beginning of round, k11, turn;
  • Sl st pw, p21, turn;
  • Sl st kw, (k1, sl st pw) rep 10 times, k1, turn;
  • Sl st pw, p21, turn;
  • Sl st kw, (sl st pw, k1) rep 10 times, k1, turn;
  • Rep those 4 rows 5 times total;
  • Sl st pw, p21, turn;
  • Sl st kw, (k1, sl st pw) rep 10 times, k1, turn;

 

TURNING THE HEEL:

  • Sl st pw, p11, p2tog, p1, turn;Turning the heel
  • Sl st kw, k3, ssk, k1, turn;
  • Sl st pw, p4, p2tog, p1, turn;
  • Sl st kw, k5, ssk, k1, turn;
  • Sl st pw, p6, p2tog, p1, turn;
  • Sl st kw, k7, ssk, k1, turn;
  • Sl st pw, p8, p2tog, p1, turn;
  • Sl st kw, k9, ssk, k1, turn;
  • Sl st pw, p10, p2tog, turn;

GUSSET (knit in rounds again)

Round 1: pick up 11 sts along the heel flap, k2, (k2, k2tog, YO, k1, YO, ssk, k2) twice, k2, pick up 11 sst along the heel flap, k6 from heel turn, place marker (this is the beginning of the round now);
Round 2: k15, k2tog, k22, ssk, k15;Picking up stitches
Round 3: k18, (k1, k2tog, YO, k3, YO, ssk, k1) twice, k18;
Round 4: k14, k2tog, k22, ssk, k14;
Round 5: k17 (k2tog, YO, k5, YO, ssk) twice, k17;
Round 6: k13, k2tog, k22, ssk, k13;
Round 7: k16, (k2, k2tog, YO, k1, YO, ssk, k2) twice, k16;
Round 8: k12, k2tog, k22, ssk, k12;
Round 9: k15, (k1, k2tog, YO, k3, YO, ssk, k1) twice, k15;
Round 10: k11, k2tog, k22, ssk, k11;
Round 11: k14, (k2tog, YO, k5, YO, ssk) twice, k14;
Round 12: k10, k2tog, k22, ssk, k10;

 

FOOT:Knitting the baby sock heel

Round 1: k13, (k2, k2tog, YO, k1, YO, ssk, k2) twice, k13;
Round 2: knit 1 round;
Round 3: k13, (k1, k2tog, YO, k3, YO, ssk, k1) twice, k13;
Round 4: knit 1 round;
Round 5: k13, (k2tog, YO, k5, YO, ssk) twice, k13;
Round 6: knit 1 round;

Repeat 2 times total.

 

TOE DECREASES:

Cut yarn and sew.

Turn the edge of the cuff inside and sew.

Attach laces or ribbons.
