Happy New Year everybody!

I absolutely love aran sweaters. I can’t believe I have none. This is a mistake that needs to be corrected.

This year goal is to knit for myself this beautiful cabled sweater – designed for me by me.

Although I have knitted sweaters and pullovers, I haven’t knitted them without a pattern. I haven’t calculated the stitches and fitted the cable patterns… I haven’t done the hard work…

This is the year I’m going to change that. And you’re going to keep me accountable 🙂 On every Monday I will show you what I have accomplished and what I plan on doing next.

To accomplish my goal, I purchased a Craftsy class – Custom Cabled Pullovers by Carla Scott (very Vogue by the way). I watched it. And watched it again.

Custom Cabled Pullovers

Carla talkes about everything. About planning – charting and ease. About yarns and colors. Taking measurements, calculating (this is the most scary part for me) and how to place your cables. All the designing parts – sleeves, front and all the shapings. Binding off and blocking. Even how to seam your sweater together.

And I think I’m ready to make it happen’ – step by step. I even made a knitting plan. 17 week long knitting plan – for not getting overwhelmed.

Thinking about doing the same? With me? Knitting together?

Oh, that would be awesome 🙂

But before you purchase this class, you should know how to knit cables and you should have knitted some sweaters. And I think knowing how to read charts will come in handy.

Well, I must say I’m scared. But I can do it. And if I fail – I can always rip it, right?

So, if you have any questions about this class before purchasing then write me.

Anyway – onto my sweater challenge…

Before designing I need some inspiration. Pinterest will help with that.

I love the rough feel and I love the front.

I love the sleeves of this one. one shoulder thing...

And I like using leather with knits, but I don't know if I should do the same

Now, about yarns – I have no idea.

I’m playing with the thought of deep red sweater. But I also like grey or white – that will go with everything. Oh I don’t know.

I think I want this sweater to be little more luxurious – more special. Yet, would I want to spend to get the luxury? Could I hide it from my husband?

All good questions.

I’m making the decision and order the yarn tonight. I’ll show you on next Monday (if I can wait so long – maybe I’ll post it on Facebook as soon as it arrives). And remember – you can ask about the class –  Custom Cabled Pullovers by Carla Scott before you purchase, so you know what to expect.
