Yes, there will be a baby. Not mine! Let’s make that clear 🙂

One of my best girlfriends is having a baby. And I couldn’t be happier. This baby was wished, hoped and prayed for a long time.

He will be one lucky fellow, I’ll tell you – yes…he…:)

But what do you think what was my first thought when I heard the news?

“Finally, I can knit some baby stuff!!!” – is that selfish? Noooo… I didn’t think so 🙂

(Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing about the Spring Shawl on my newsletter on Friday)

Now, I’m planning to make a special set of baby items, and this is my first project – jumpsuit:

It isn’t looking much at the moment, but wait until I finish, and block it 🙂

My inspiration came from one of the DROPS patterns here: Little Blue Dream

And of course I needed to add cables.

(I think I’ll make another one, a bit larger, and add more cables – yes, it’s lacking in my point of view)

I tried to stretch the leg part so you could see how the cable pattern will be:

So, I need your help: please share your most favorite baby pattern in the comments below:)

Oh I totally forgot – her due date is in July (thankfully Estonian summers are on the cooler side) 🙂

Never miss a post or a pattern

Hi, looks like it will be cosy! I made a cable all in one button through suit for my youngest, I too adapted a written pattern. Here are a few links to some patterns I have found.

Red Heart do a onesie free pattern, worth a look on their site.

I have been making the “Ginfersnap” cardies for my two due later this year and I went down a needle size and used a baby DK and it knitted up great as a first size cardi.
I’m also making each of mine a floor blanket and a wrap blanket.

    Have fun

Lovely gift being made with love by you. Congratulations to your friend’s family. Hard to pick a favorite baby pattern because I have knit many for my almost 32 year old son and as gifts over the years. Lately I have enjoyed knitting Elizabeth Zimmermann’s baby surprise jacket. I also like cables knit as owls for baby sweaters.
