Pattern from history - X.O.X.

I was so happy when I found this pattern today.

I have three favorite knitting techniques – cables, lace with nupps and lace with double yarn overs.

And this pattern uses two of those – nupps and double yarn overs.

I love how the “X” s formed and this lovely little flower in the middle. I saw myself knitting another shawl with this pattern. Again (I have a waiting list for all the lace shawls I plan to knit).

Pattern sheet from 1958 Nõukogude NaineToday’s pattern sheet was full of colorful knitting patterns. Or it would have been, if it wasn’t black and white. I would love to try all of it, but…you know….time is the issue here.

Now – here are written instructions for you.

Pattern repeat is 21 stitches and it forms one “X” and one “flower”. I added 5 stitches for both sides for edging, so it won’t curl (and I knitted those 5 on both ways).
