You have your swatch and you have your cast on. Let’s do cuffs.

Oh, you may need abbreviations for second and third pattern:

  • k – knit;
  • YO – yarn over;
  • ssk – slip, slip, knit together;
  • k2tog – knit 2 together;
  • sk2p – slip stitch, knit 2 together and pass slipped stitch over;
  • right twist – one stitch onto cable needle and hold in front, knit next one and then knit one from cable needle;
  • left twist – one stitch onto cable needle and hold at back, knit next one and then knit one from cable needle;
  • 3/3 CR – 3 stitches onto cable needle and hold in front, knit next three and then knit those from cable needle;
Level 1 – simple (fingerless) mittens

simple fingerless mittensYour pattern repeat was 4.

Rounds 1 & 2: (knit 2, purl 2) repeat to end;

Round 3: knit;

Round 4: purl;

Repeat rounds 1 to 4 in total of 5 times and just knit until you have reached desired length of your cuffs.

Level 2 – lacy pair of (fingerless) mittens

Lacy fingerless gloves patternBefore you start the lace pattern:

  • Knit 1 round; purl 1 round; knit 1 round; and purl 1 round;
  • Now knit 1 round, but make sure that you have at least 25 stitches total on 1st and 2nd needle and odd number of stitches, so arrange your stitches or knit 2 stitches together, if you have to.
  • Put stitches from 1st and 2nd needle onto one needle, so it would be easier to knit (you have 3 needles now + 1 working needle).
  • Now the pattern should be in the middle of the 1st needle (the one you have lot of stitches). So, if you have 25 stitches then you have no problems. If you have more stitches then you need to knit those. For example, for the pattern we’ll need 25 stitches, but we have 29. That is 4 extra stitches. So, we will knit 2 stitches at the beginning, work the pattern and then knit last 2 stitches. I hope it’s clear enough πŸ™‚

Pattern (for 1st needle only, just knit the other two):

Level 3 – cable and lace (fingerless) mittens

knit fingerless gloves with lace and cable patternBefore you start the lace and cable pattern:

  • Knit 1:1 ribbing for 5 rounds (knit 1, purl 1);
  • Put stitches from 1st and 2nd needle onto one needle, so it would be easier to knit (you have 3 needles now + 1 working needle) AND put marker in middle of this needle (for example, 24 stitches then marker goes to right after 12 stitch and before 13 stitch);
  • As stated last time – you should have at least 22 stitches on this needle;
  • You’ll be working this pattern with last 11 stitches before marker and first 11 stitches after marker; other stitches will be just knit stitches (2nd and 3rd needle as well)
