Knitting Q&A: How important is the gauge for a simple straight lace scarf?

For scarves and shawls, I don’t think the gauge is a problem if you have enough yarn (you might need more yarn if your gauge is larger).

There’s also no such thing as “too lacy”. It all comes down to your preferences and the outcome will be shown once you block it. If you feel it’s too lacy for your taste, try changing your needles one or two sizes down. That will give you more definition.
