Christmas cards with knitted embellishments

Today is an idea post. Idea is this – make Christmas cards yourself this year. Put on some Christmas music, knit some tiny accessories and attach onto folded paper.

Add some glitter. Write your Christmas wishes. You can even put something sweet inside of the tiny knitted embellishment.

My cards are little empty though. I wanted to add something on top of the cards (like “Warm holidays” or “Merry Christmas” etc), but my daughter announced that she wanted these cards for herself and she will be decorating those… ah, what can I do – I’m a sucker for my kids (don’t tell them that, otherwise my life would be pure hell).

Anyways, I’ll show you my cards and give some links for the patterns.

Card with Christmas stocking

DIY Christmas card with knitted tiny socksI didn’t use any pattern – I just knitted a sock like usually, only with 16 stitches total (alternating colors). Then I made 2 holes into the card and attached the stocking with red yarn (so that there is a bow inside of the card).

Card with tiny winter sweater

DIY Christmas card with knitted mini sweaterI loved knitting this tiny sweater (again, no pattern). My goal for this card was to make it appear like little elf sweater drying. I haven’t found tiny clothes pins just yet…

Card with little Elf bag

DIY Christmas card with knitted tiny santa bagFor this bag I used double knitting technique but you can just knit in rounds or even knit back and forth. I  have total of 28 stitches for this and I would say it is more then enough.

So, what more to put on a Christmas card…

Tiny mittens

Miniature hats

and so on (I ran out of ideas here but you get the picture…)

What do you think? Is this something you may want to do or are you more of a purchased card person?
